Fincher Eyes Salander Candidate Yo-Landi Vi$$er, Future of Product Placement

    - David Fincher is a fan of South African band Die Antwoord's leading mini-lady Yo-Landi Vi$$er, and Vulture's sources indicate she has the exact look and mannerisms that Fincher wants for Lisbeth Salander in his remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Die Antwoord's representation, William Morris Endeavor, told Vulture that it wasn't clear whether Fincher was sincerely interested in Yo-Landi playing the part or if she is just his prime reference point. Apparently other studios have inquired about her interest in acting. Finally, Lisbeth Salander needs to be played by someone with more than a potential interest in acting, but even so Carey...

Stewart Does Letterman, Likely Can't Do Girl with Dragon Tattoo

It looks like Twilight star Kristen Stewart is too busy to even chase after The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She'd love to do the role, but hasn't talked to David Fincher about it and may not be able to squeeze it into her crazy schedule anyway. (Meanwhile, in The New Yorker, Nora Ephron channels Li...

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Hits EW Cover

Prediction: as the Twilight craze peaks and heads toward its inevitable decline, EW and MTV and other outlets will seek to build another reliable hot topic. Next best thing, with the third book of a global hit trilogy hitting shelves and joining the other two on bestseller lists stateside, two of three foreign films playing well on U.S. screens and David Fincher's big Hollywood remake coming up: Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy. EW actually put The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo book on its cover this week (complete with rare interview from producer Scott Rudin). Expect the mag to go back to the well many times in the next few years: who will p...

Millenium Trilogy Sequels will open in U.S. in 2010

Chicago indie distrib Music Box will open the two sequels to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (in current release) this summer. Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy kept me up late many nights in a row. So even though the first Swedish film adaptation disappointed me--it's a by-the-numbers thriller--I am still eager to see The Girl Who Played with Fire, which is the strongest of the three books, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, which is a tough political attack on Swedish Intelligence. The three Swedish films starring Noomi Rapace and Mikael Nyqvist as bisexual hacker Lisbeth Salander and muckraking journalist Mikael Blomqvist are huge ...
