First Image From Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire' Shows MMA Fighter Gina Carano...Firing A Gun

It's been a bit of long and bumpy ride for Steven Soderbergh's lean, mean action pic "Haywire." First the movie went from Lionsgate to Relativity, and it was set up with an April 22nd release date. As the snow started melting, the movie was moved to late summer as fine tuning continued on the picture but then it was moved once more -- and finally -- to January 20, 2012. That might seem odd, but you have remember that "Contagion" just moved up a full month to a September 9th release and we'd wager that Soderbergh -- as well as Warner Bros. and Relativity -- wanted to make sure that there was breathing room between both pics (and the ever busy ...

Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire' Gets January 20, 2012 Release Date

Relativity Media Will Distribute in U.S.Well, that's one film we can take out of awards contention for 2011. One of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming films "Haywire" won't be released till January 20, 2012. As we've been saying all along, Relativity Media has retained the domestic rights, with Lionsgate holding on to the foreign rights. Lionsgate was all set to release in the U.S. as well, until restructuring gave partner Relativity its own domestic arm for distribution. The initial date was April, 2011, which Soderbergh confirmed himself, but it was never officially announced; the restructuring deal points took much longer than anyone expected. T...

Gina Carano Beats Up Ewan McGregor In Set Pics From Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire'

Cliff Martinez Scoring 'Contagion'While we've lately been going off about the lack of quality female-led comedies with last year's "Easy A" and "Bridesmaids," "Bad Teacher" and "Friends With Benefits" on the way, it seems at least that gap will be filled for now. But another genre that has been larg...

    The Playlist's 100 Most Anticipated Films Of 2011 - Part 1

That’s right, 2010 is already in our rear view and we’re looking far, far ahead into 2011. If 2010 was the year of audiences rewarding original, smart blockbusters (“Inception”) and punishing glossy, but empty big-budget tentpoles (“The Tourist,” “Tron: Legacy”) the new year will find studios hoping once again that comic franchises and sequels can bring in the big bucks. No less than five comic-book movies are on the way with “Thor,” “Captain America,” “Green Lantern,” “Green Hornet” and “X-Men: First Class” all swinging into thea...

Exclusive: Steven Soderbergh's 'Haywire' Set For April 22, 2011 Release

No, in case you were wondering (or didn't hear the news), Steven Soderbergh's forthcoming spy action/thriller "Haywire" did not receive an Oscar qualifying run in New York and Los Angeles in October. That was basically an AMC ticketing snafu, but the news did create a ruckus on the web for a minute...
