With one long-shelved project hitting theaters earlier this year in "Cabin In The Woods," Chris Hemsworth hopes another movie bearing his name, which also has been delayed, will make a bit more of a splash than that excellent horror flick. "Red Dawn" -- yes, a remake of the jingo...

'Red Dawn' Remake Finds A New Home At FilmDistrict, Poised For 2012 Release

The road to the "Red Dawn" remake has been long and bumpy, with some dubious do-overs and even some mild insults being thrown around. The film was shot and wrapped way back in 2009, but the financial woes of MGM kept the film on the shelf for a long time as the studio tried to become viable enough to give the picture a release. But as their priorities were squarely on the "The Hobbit" and "James Bond 23" it soon became apparent that "Red Dawn" was going to need to find a new home. While MGM sought a buyer it became clear that the anti-China storyline was going to make it a tough sell because studios/distributors are increasingly relying on Ch...

'Red Dawn' Producer Says Remake Isn't For Vegetarians Or Sissies; Spoiler Heavy Review Hits

While the "Red Dawn" remake continues to sit on the shelf, as it was reported a couple of days ago, MGM are looking to sell the film and trying to make it more internationally friendly. As you might recall, the plot of the original film revolves around a band of teens who fight off some evil Soviets. In the remake, the baddies were switched up to the Chinese who, as the plot goes, decide to cash in on the debt the United States owes them. But fearing that the film might be too controversial for the lucrative film market in China, the studio has decided to digitally alter the film scrubbing references to the Chinese as the main antagonists and...

Villains In 'Red Dawn' Remake To Be Changed To North Koreans Instead Of Chinese So MGM Can Sell It

North Koreans are the new Chinese, who were the new Russians it would seem. "Red Dawn," a remake of the 1980s film about a bunch of kids who keep those pesky Soviets from taking over America was remade by Dan Bradley (a stunt coordinator making his directorial debut) with the Chinese now serving as the updated baddies. But according to the LA Times, it appears that the film is undergoing a post-production makeover that will now digitally swap out Chinese flags and whatnot and substitute with North Korean ephemera. Additionally, dialogue in the film will be altered to match the story changes as well, which will not totally erase the Chinese bu...

First Look At The Cast Of 'Red Dawn'

The bankruptcy of MGM threw a whole bunch of projects up in the air including "The Hobbit" (now gearing up to shoot next month) and "Bond 23" (which appears to be headed back into development), but the studio also had a couple of finished films on their slate that they just didn't have the money to put out. Joss Whedon's "Cabin In The Woods," originally set to come out on January 14th, was temporarily put on the shelf as was the remake of "Red Dawn" which was supposed to come out on November 24th last year. But with MGM now post-bankruptcy and with some funds to spend, these ones are apparently going to be slotted somewhere in the 2011 calend...
