Doug Liman To Direct Tom Cruise In Comedy 'El Presidente', Jack Nicholson Courted To Co-Star

When we last reported on "El Presidente," the high concept buddy movie about a clean cut Secret Service agent and the disheveled, alcoholic schlub of an ex-president he's assigned to protect, Tom Cruise was loosely attached, as was directed "Recount" director Jay Roach, with Robert Downey, Jr. being...

Robert Downey Jr. Says Some Elements Of 'Iron Man 2' Were "Dissatisfying And Disappointing"

There is no doubt that Robert Downey Jr.'s career is marked by two phases: before "Iron Man," and everything else after. Landing the lead role in the Marvel film was the validation of the actor's comeback and forgiveness from Hollywood. He had put his bad-boy ways behind him and proved to everyone he still had the goods in a string of films including "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "Zodiac" and "A Scanner Darkly" before Jon Favreau came calling, wanting to place him in a metal suit to fight bad guys. The result of the marriage? Over $585 million in ticket sales worldwide, the birth of a new franchise and RDJ's ascension to the A-list (you can bet the ...

Robert Downey Jr. To Get Lawyerly As 'Perry Mason' In Big Screen Adaptation

'Mr. Ed' Also Headed To The Multiplex, Of CourseSome actors use their newfound fame and clout to try and get more adventurous, ambitious stories movies made. And then there's Robert Downey Jr. If you had said in the late 1990s that the actor would become the star of two major tentpoles and one of the biggest actors in the world, you would have been laughed at. But the actor has not only rebounded, but been given the kind of second chance that pretty much never happens and he's not gonna screw it up with some indie flick. He's already done enough of those those. While he's got the "Sherlock Holmes" and "Iron Man" movies bringing home the bacon...

Robert Downey Jr. Planning Film About Sinking Of USS Indianapolis

"Japanese submarine slammed two torpedoes into our side, Chief. We was comin' back from the island of Tinian to Leyte... just delivered the bomb. The Hiroshima bomb. Eleven hundred men went into the water. Vessel went down in 12 minutes. Didn't see the first shark for about a half an hour. Tiger. 13-footer. You know how you know that when you're in the water, Chief? You tell by looking from the dorsal to the tail fin. What we didn't know, was our bomb mission had been so secret, no distress signal had been sent. They didn't even list us overdue for a week. Very first light, Chief, sharks come cruisin', so we formed ourselves into tight groups...

Trailer For 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' Crackles With Same Brand Of Humor & Style

We'll be the first to admit we pegged "Sherlock Holmes" all wrong. While it looked rather disastrous in its marketing, what with those 7/11 taquitos tie-ins and what not, it seemed like some kind of Disney-fied disaster gone wrong; a tepid version of "Pirates Of The Caribbean 2" set in the world of the famous English detective. But cut to December 2009 and Guy Ritchie's dazzling direction, Hans Zimmer's killer score and Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law's unexpected chemistry proved us totally wrong. We were happy to eat crow and this was exactly what we're hoping from a tentpole: something thrilling, engaging and, okay, maybe smart would be too...
