    Women ♀ in Audiovisual Europe (CIMA)

    This June, over 100 women in film and TV and new technologies met in Santiago de Compostela, Spain for three days of intense discussion and dialogue with several panels with 41 speaking guests from 15 European countries. Provided with a wealth of knowledge from different backgrounds in film and audiovisuals in Europe, .everybody was asked to join in and to propose ideas on how to achieve gender equality in the industry.     Festival Premiers Go Online

    The up-coming launch of Festival Scope, a new Paris-based facility for industry professionals offering simultaneous on-line screening access to films as they receive their festival world premiere, was announced on the opening day of the Cannes Market. Festivals that have signed up already include Melbourne, Sarajevo, Taormina, Hamburg and Paris Cinema. Festival Scope is a new independent company founded by Alessandro Raja, formerly of Celluloid Dreams, in collaboration with Lucie Kalmar, formerly of Wild Bunch and Mathilde Henrot, formerly of MK2.     When are Films Political? (Part 3): Armadillo

    The film that knocked Prince of Persia off the top spot at the Danish box office the week of June 3 was the Cannes Critics' Week documentary Armadillo. During the festival it had the Danish talk-show circuit buzzing about what Danish soldiers were doing in Afghanistan. There was such a clamour among the public to see it that the film was been rushed into cinemas immediately after Cannes, almost two months in advance of its original release date.
