'Tangled Ever After' Short To Play In Front Of 'Beauty & The Beast 3D'

One of the biggest suprises last fall both critically and commercially was Disney's fairy tale riff "Tangled." It seemed to arrive in theaters without much hoopla, but the movie powered its way to nearly $600 million worldwide, strong reviews and a big thumbs up from audiences. Smellin...

Weekend Box Office: 'Fockers' Shows 'True Grit', Outduels Cowboys (But Not For Long)

2010 ended with a whimper with most studio execs facing an uncertain 2011, as the year closed with eight consecutive weekends of box office earning lower than its 2009 counterpart despite five major 3D releases goosing prices. Of course, the industry is always looking for a scapegoat when the answer is clearly, “terrible movies are being made and should not be,” so the disappearance of 3D (not likely) will happen before a sudden spike i...

In Theaters: 'Faster,' 'Love And Other Drugs,' 'The King's Speech'

A lot of dessert options this week if you can make it out to the theater after shoving down all that turkey and fixings. The most satisfying option is probably Disney's "Tangled," which considering it has a pretty white princess as the center of the story, should do great business this weekend, but most likely not enough to knock the boy wizard from the top spot in his second week. Christina Aguilera and Cher team up in the musical fable "Burlesque," which should attract a broad age range of women and gay men. "Faster" marks the return of The Rock from the kiddie-flick ghetto, but "Unstoppable" has better reviews and should provide decent com...

Review: 'Tangled' Is Safe Disney Princess Stuff

About a year ago, Disney released "The Princess and the Frog," their joyful, totally brilliant return to hand-drawn animation. And nobody fucking went. Sure, Princess Tiana toys flew off the shelves of Target stores nationwide, but this was probably to be expected when the studio finally allowed an African American character into the hallowed stable of Disney princesses. But the movie, as a whole, didn't do exceptionally well, putting into doubt the viability of the Disney Princess line of products which, amongst other things, has put the Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World into question and forced the brass to change the title of this...
