Both brothers may already be working on hit shows as actors, but that doesn’t mean the duo’s prolific writers’ sides are satisfied. Yes, “The League” is one of only a handful of original programs on FXX and “Transparent” is Amazon’s first full-fledged smash hit, but the Duplass brothers — Mark and Jay, respectively — are ready to give one more series a go, this time as creators.
“Togetherness,” an eight-episode HBO comedy, tracks a couple who lets two of their friends move in with them “on the fringes of Los Angeles.” Mark Duplass and Melanie Lynskey (“Happy Christmas,” “Goodbye to All That”) make up the unhappy couple, seen in the teaser below as having lost their spark, while Steve Zissis plays his friend and Amanda Peet co-stars as her sister.
Described as “tragically comedic” by the network, “Togetherness” looks to have all the realistic touches of the Duplass’ film work as well as its relatable appeal. Check out the first teaser below. “Togetherness” premieres January 11 at 9:30pm (after “Girls”).
