The Slamdance Film Festival has announced the winners of its 2nd Annual
Screenplay Competition. First Place went to “Chinaware – Fragile” by
Christine DeSmet, Peggy Williams and Robert Shill, Second Place to “The Boxer” by Mark Douglas, and Third Place to “The Counterfeit Confederate” by
Nancy Raven Smith. Slamdance Executive Director Peter Baxter said the
winners were picked from over 750 submissions and that all scripts will
receive individualized coverage.

The awards will be presented during the festival on January 20th in Park
City, Utah. The First Place script will also be a part of FILMMAKER
Magazine’s “From Page to Stage”, a reading sponsored by SAG slated to run
in early 1998. The three winning scripts will be “submitted for
professional review by a major literary agency.”

[The first deadline for the 1999 Screenplay Competition is April 10, 1998.
