CFP Becomes Lions Gate Films, Inc.; Sackman Named President

Independent film distribution and production company Cinepix Film
Properties (CFP) announced a name change yesterday, to Lions Gate Films
Inc. The announcement was made by Frank Giustra, chairman and CEO of Lions
Gate Entertainment Corp, parent company of the newly named entity. Jeff
Sackman, until now Executive Vice President of CFP, was named President of
Lions Gate Films. Andre Link and John Dunning, co-founders of CFP will
retain their positions as CEO and Chairman, respectively, of Lions Gate

The company will continue to operate in much the same way as it did as CFP,
but will have increased access to financing from its parent company, Lions
Gate Entertainment Corp. Lions Gate Film will operate several divisions,
including Lions Gate Productions, Lions Gate Releasing, Lions Gate
International, Les Film Lions Gate, Avalanche Home Entertainment and Lions
Gate Home Entertainment.

Lions Gate has two films in competition at this year’s Sundance Film
Festival: Saul Rubinek’s “Jerry and Tom” and Vincent Gallo’s “Buffalo 66.”
Past CFP releases have included: Oscar winners “Antonia’s Line”, “The
Crying Game” and “The Piano”, as well as “The Daytrippers”, “The
Pillowbook” and “Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist.”

Current films in production at the company are: “Johnny Skidmarks”,
starring Academy Award- winner Frances McDormand, John Lithgow and Peter
Gallagher; “Vig”, a drama scripted by playwright-turned- screenwriter Paul
Hapenny and starring Lauren Holly, Timothy Hutton, Colm Meany and Peter
Falk; “Hi-Life” starring Eric Stoltz and Darryl Hannah; and “Dog Park”,
starring comedian Janeane Garafolo and Natasha Henstridge with Bruce
McCulloch (of TV’s “Kids in the Hall”) directing.
