>> Parker & Stone’s “Orgazmo” Facing NC-17 Rating

Orgazmo“, the new film from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt
Stone, has received an intial NC-17 rating from the MPAA. “‘Orgazmo’ so
far has been rated NC-17,” an October Films spokesperson told indieWIRE on
Friday, “The company is not prepared to accept that at this point and
they’re not happy about it.”

The news comes on the heels of October’s recent decision to drop Todd
Solondz critically-acclaimed new film “Happiness.” The spokesperson
confirmed that October Films is committed to releasing “Orgazmo”, adding,
“we’re still working it out.” The film, which debuted at the 1998 Sundance
Film Festival, is written and directed by Trey Parker and produced by
Matt Stone.

>> Miramax/Dimension Sign Fresnadillo and Toledo To Three Picture Pact

The Spanish filmmaking team of writer/director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
and producer Miguel Toledo have entered into a three picture deal with
Miramax and Dimension, the company announced last week. The duo’s first
film as part of the deal will be a project called, “Handicap.” The film will
be managed by executives from both Dimension and Miramax. Fresnadillo
and Toledo are best known for the Oscar nominated short, “Esposados.”

>> New Boyle Project, “The Beach”, Headed to Fox

The worldwide rights to “The Beach“, a new project by Danny Boyle
(“Trainspotting”), have been acquired by 20th Century Fox, according
to today’s Hollywood Reporter. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and
is expected to go into production early next year according to the
Hollywood trade publication.
