>> Wright to Direct “Falls” for October’s Rogue

Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper, Metal Skin) will direct “Cherry Falls,” a
script by Ken Selden (“White Lies”), for October Film‘s genre division
Rogue Pictures. Described in a prepared statement as a “disturbing look
into the closets of small town America,” the story depicts a series of
murders at the local high school. “Falls” is being produced by Industry
Entertainment’s Eli Selden (“Eve’s Bayou”), and Julie Yorn (“Eve’s Bayou”),
with the Fresh Produce Company’s Marshall Persinger (“Still Breathing”) and
Joyce Schweickert.

“Cherry Falls” brought into Rogue by company co-Vice Presidents Matt Wall
and Patrick Gunn. The division’s movies are marketed and distributed by
October. The first Rogue film, Trey Parker’s “Orgazmo,” was released by
October on Friday. Ancillary sales of the film will be handled by Universal
while foreign sales will be handled by Good Machine. [Eugene Hernandez]

>> NY Film Critics Add Two

New York Film Critics Circle President Godfrey Cheshire announced that the
group is welcoming two new members: Andrew Johnston from “Time Out New
York” and Mall Zoller Seitz from “The New York Press.” On December 16th,
the New York critics group will announce the winners of their 64th annual
film awards. Awards will be presented at a ceremony in January.

>> Film Four Sets Up Low Budget Arm

According to Daily Variety, Film Four, the feature film production arm
of Great Britain’s Channel 4 (C4), has set up a low-budget experimental
production arm. Robin Gutch, the current commissioning editor for
independent film at C4 will set up the unit, called Film Four Lab. Adam
Barker, independent producer and co-founder of Blast! Films, will take
over Gutch’s role as commissioning editor. According to the trade, the
Film Four Lab is designed to be a research and development arm and a way
to infuse Film Four with new talent. [Mark Rabinowitz]

>> Lions Gate Deal With Uni Announced

Lions Gate Films Corp. recently announced the terms of the output deal
signed earlier this year with Universal Home Video, according to Daily
Variety. Under the terms of the deal, Universal will distribute seven
indies that were released in North America by Lions Gate Releasing,
including “Love and Death on Long Island” and “Buffalo 66,” released
earlier this year, and “Gods and Monsters,” “Shattered Image,” “Blood
Guts Bullets & Octane
,” “Affliction” and “Metroland,” all set to be
