Currently shooting in Nova Scotia is the low-budget drama “The Magic of
,” from writer-director Tony Barbieri (“One”) for Lumiere
The film stars Nastassja Kinski (“Your Friends and Neighbors”)
as the mentally ill mother of a 10 year old boy, played by Cody Morgan, with
whom she shares a special bond. Robert Forster (“The Black Hole”, “Jackie
Brown”) plays a kindly former psychiatrist who takes custody of the boy after
Kinski descends into insanity and violence.

>> Koepp Shoots For Artisan

Quintessential big-time Hollywood screenwriter David Koepp (“The Trigger
Effect”) is going the indie route with his next film, “A Stir of Echoes,”
currently shooting for Artisan Entertainment in Chicago. Koepp wrote and is
directing the thriller, based on a story by Richard Matheson (“What Dreams May
Come”). It deals with an ordinary guy suddenly gifted with the ability to see
the future which eventually threatens both his sanity and his life, and stars
Illeana Douglas (“Grace of my Heart”), Kevin Bacon (“Wild Things”), Liza Weil
(“Whatever”) and Kathryn Erbe (“Dream with the Fishes”).

>> “Carlo’s Wake” Shoots In L.A.

Carlo’s Wake,” a low budget black comic farce written by Rosie Taravella and
Mike Valerio, is currently shooting in Los Angeles. Taravella and director
Valerio co-wrote the script, based on Taravella’s stage play “Pa’s Funeral.”
The ensemble cast includes Taravella, Martin Landau (“The X-Files”), Rita
Moreno (“Slums of Beverly Hills”), Michael Chiklis (“Nixon”), Juliet Landau
(“Citizens of Perpetual Indulgence”), Theresa Saldana (“Illusion Infinity”)
and Helen Slater (“Supergirl”).
