Word on the street is that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the rights to
Michael Polish’s “Twin Falls Idaho.” The Sundance American Spectrum film
stars Mark and Michael Polish, as well Michele Hicks, Jon Gries, and Patrick

>> “Tumbleweeds” Acquired by Fine Line

indieWIRE spoke with a tired Steven Beer yesterday morning following a 20-hour
negotiating session for a distribution deal with Fine Line. Filmmaker Gavin O’Connor
appeared bright-eyed and bushy-tailed yesterday morning at the Filmmaker/Press
reception, admitting that he took naps on the couch in the midst of the deal-making.
The film has its final Park City screening this morning.

>> Vodka, three DJ’s and Cheese Ravioli

Absolut threw down some big bucks to host their drink-fest on Main Street. DJ#1,
Mark Ronson, spun a mix of street funk; simple and straight-forward. EBN followed
up with a wicked video clip-laden, tencho stream of conscience mind bender.
Triple Frank Sinatra’s perpetually snapping fingers; like Frank was calling
from heaven. Dissolve to that freaky “Heaven’s Gate” old guy – “Leave
(beat) With us.” Epileptic audio dynomite. DJ Spooky (I was all ready for
him having just seen “The Blair Witch Project“) seemlessly merged with
EBN with his dark, construction site jungle groove overlay. “Stop the
Amazonian destruction,” I thought to myself, not knowing why. Then, a
minute later, some Amozanian guys were cutting down trees in the EBN
footage. My mind was being manipulated, or was it the other way around?
(Note: I only had one drink, and I didn’t finish it.) With James Brown
hyper scat speed testosterone mania, DJ Spooky had a dancefloor of
men only; the ladies were not feeling the groove. Mr. Spooky grabbed
his upright and took the stereo F train to Bassland. I left with syncopated
video game samples leading me into the throngs of those who would be
in. Out. [Peter Byck]
