DAILY BRIEFS: Florida Festival Lineup; Sundance Cinema Chief Named

>> Florida Film Festival Announces Lineup for 1999 American Indies Competition

The 1999 Florida Film Festival, a leading stop on the American regional
film festival circuit, has unveiled the lineup for its independent film
competition. A few 1999 Sundance entries are sprinkled within the
narrative section, among them Todd Edwards’ “Chillicothe,” Andrew Shea’s
The Corndog Man,” and Julian Goldberger’s Florida film, “Trans.” Also in
the narrative competition are Chi Muoi Lo’s “Catfish in Black Bean Sauce,”
Jonathan Kahn’s “Girl,” Gil Wadsworth’s “The Glass Jar,” Bette Gordon’s
Luminous Motion,” Greg Lombardo’s “Macbeth in Manhattan,” Eric Tretbar’s
Snow,” and Caio Ribeiro’s “Sometime in August.”

Having its world premiere in the doc competition is Mimi Riley’s “Queen:
The Making of an American Beauty
,” with others entries including Rory
Kennedy’s “American Hollow,” Roco Belic’s “Genghis Blues,” Michael
Epstein’s “Hitchcock, Selznick & The End of Hollywood,” Laurel Chiten’s
The Jew in the Lotus,”Barbara Sonnenborn’s “Regret to Inform,” Katya
Bankowsky’s “Shadow Boxers,” Pacia di Florio’s “Speaking in Strings,” and
Cass Paley’s “Wadd: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes.”
