>> The 1999 Online Queer DigiFest Launches

PlanetOut’s PopcornQ has announced the launch of their 1999 Queer
. DigiFest, presented by the MIX New York and MIX Brasil
festivals, will premiere over the internet, many of the films screened
at these events since “not everyone can attend these world-class
festivals in person.”

This years fest will feature seven short films: “3DME” by Collen Cruise;
How Calvin Klien Ruined My Figure” by Brad Wolfey; “Smokin’ a But” by Charles Lo Verme; “Black & White Study: The Dance” by Peter Cramer and Jack Waters; “Land of the Lay” by Larry Shea; “Taboo Series #1 (Two Kissing Woman)” by Jocelyn Taylor and “Hollywood Harlots in Heat” by Teri Rice.

>> “Blair Witch” Filmmakers Offer Orlando Workshop For At-Risk Youth

Create Now!” a non-profit organization commited to using the arts to
educate at-risk youth, and Ed Sanchez, Dan Myrick (co-directors) and
Greg Hale (co-producer) of “The Blair Witch Project” have teamed up to
present a two-hour screenwriting and filmmaking workshop to 55 teenaged
boys at the Center for Drug-Free Living in Orlando, Florida. According
to a prepared release the filmmakers will be teaching the “basics of
filmmaking and screenwriting and will work to inspire them so that they
can some day possibly make their own movies. The interactive program
will be focused on creativity.”

“Create Now!” brings screenwriters, filmmakers and other artists
together with children, aged 5 to 18 in an effort to create workshops in
“screenwriting, poetry, plays, music, video production, art, cinematic
crafts and other creative endeavors, so that the youth can learn to
espress themselves in a positve manner.”
