(indieWIRE/3.31.00) — Catching up on a deal that was announced during last
week’s busy Yahoo! Festival, AtomFilms announced a co-production and
licensing deal with Propaganda Films. As part of the pact, the two
companies with co-produce projects that will be exclusively distributed by
AtomFilms and on a special section of the website.

Among the first projects in the deal is “Violent Crumble,” directed by
Morgan J. Freeman (“Hurricane Streets“) and starring Brendan Sexton III
(“Welcome to the Dollhouse“). Propaganda intends to create short work with
a number of its directors, including Simon West, Keir MacFarlane, Brian
, Mark Osborne, Dante Ariola, Dominic Sena, Jamie Babbitt, Mark
, Steve Hanft, Jhoan Camitz and Josh Taft, according to an

Additionally, Propaganda is licensing some titles to Atom, including Paul
‘s “Choke” with Deborah Unger and Jack Kehoe and Jamie Babbitt‘s
Sleeping Beauties.”

make it the ideal partner for Propaganda’s first foray into on-line content

(indieWIRE/3.31.00) — Brian Newman recently joined Atlanta’s IMAGE Film & Video Center as the organizations new Executive Director. He replaced Anne
, who recently left the media arts center.

Newman is a former Market Coordinator for the Independent Feature Project in
New York. He worked with IMAGE in 1996 while studying for a Master of Arts
in Film Studies at Emory University. He became the Assistant Coordinator of
Media Arts for the South Carolina Arts Commission in 1997.

entertainment sites on the internet, Universal Pictures has teamed with to stake their flag in the virtual fertile ground of the web.
According to a prepared statement, the partnership, which includes equity

film industry leadership and the New York independent film community.
This partnership will “provide opportunities for filmmakers working with
