DAILY NEWS: Shortcuts Launches Short FIlm Series; DNA Announces New President

>> Shortcuts unveils round two of weekly short film festival
(indieWIRE/3.22.2000) — Shortcuts (http://shortcuts.org), a weekly
televised short film series will be continuing for a second season,
airing nationally on PBS. The series, which gives audiences the
opportunity to see short films from around the world will kick off
with “Hum Drum” which is nominated for an Academy Award. The half
hour episodes are hosted by comedian/filmmaker Louis CK and include
screening of short of all genres, comedy, animation, dramatic and
foreign as well as one-on-one interviews with the actors and directors.
The program, produced by Larry Russo who is one of the founders of
The Shooting Gallery, was created after Russo realized the limited
distribution outlets for short films. The show will also feature special
appearances by Amy Poehler of the Upright Citizens Brigade and sketches
by Robert Smigel of Saturday Night Live (“The Ambiguously Gay Duo“).
Other films to be featured in season two of the series are “Quest” which won
the 1998 Academy award for best animated short and “The Best” which was Ted
Demme‘s directorial debut.
