FESTIVAL: Raw Meat and Mainstream, New York Underground Merges Opposing Worlds

The 7th New York Underground Film Festival came to an end Tuesday night following seven days of screenings, parties, panels and one raw meat fashion show. If not an unqualified success, NYUFF 2000 was a remarkable accomplishment. At the dawn of the 21st Century, NYUFF finds itself at a fork in the proverbial road: with one direction leading to more accessible films, mainstream sponsors and Indiewood attention, while the other leading to more experimental work, scrappier filmmakers and continued subculture status.
