>> “Groove” Celebrates NYC Premiere

(indieWIRE/5.26.00) — Cast and crew were joined by family and friends at
Wednesday night’s New York premiere of Greg Harrison‘s “Groove,” which was acquired by Sony Classics shortly after its debut at Sundance 2000. The post-screening party at TWILO was a crowded and sweaty affair that, like a key sequence in the film, offered an appearance by acclaimed DJ John Digweed.

Harrison’s fanily surveyed the scene from a booth stocked with delivered
pizzas, while other guests mixed and mingled. Among the “Groove” folks on
hand were Harrison, producer Danielle Renfrew, actress Lola Glaudini, actor Hamish Linklater, actor Ari Gold, Wade Hampton and others. Sony executives were of course on hand, among them Barbara Sintes, who will be leaving the company this week to move to France.

The party came on the heels of Sony’s launch of a special website to promote
the new film ( Notable on the new site is a diary
of director Harrison’s recent press tour that took him to Denver, Dallas,
Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Boston, Phildelphia and Atlanta in a matter
of 10 days. Among the music oriented sections of the site are an area that
demystifies the rave scene, a streaming audio and video area, and another
that offers a look at a day in the life of DJ Christian Smith.

[indieWIRE will publish a conversation with “Groove” director Greg Harrison
closer to the film’s release date.]
