>> Dominion3 Formed by Departing Clein + White PR Execs

(indieWIRE/ 8.30.00) — PR firm Clein + White senior executives Kim Dixon, Judy Dixon and Heather Burgett recently left the agency to form Dominion3, a new firm specializing in indie and studio features, filmmakers, production studios, events and talent. The LA based publicity agency will also focus on
new media as a priority. Also joining the Dominion3 team from Clein + White
are Ali Forman and Jose Martinez.

“Since Harry Clein stepped down from publicity last November, we have been
leading the PR efforts for Clein + White,” commented Kim Dixon in a prepared
statement, “The decision to create our own banner is a natural progression
and Mr. Clein has been extremely supportive of our move.” Dominion3 will be
travelling to the upcoming Toronto Film Festival representing award winning
documentaries “Fighter” (Amir Bar-Lev) and “Keep The River On Your Right: A Modern Cannibal Tale” (Laurie Gwen Shapiro and David Shapiro).

Some of the groups the Dominion3 founders worked with while at Clein + White
include the Independent Film Channel, director Wolfgang Petersen (“The Perfect Storm“) and Klasky Csupo (“The Rugrats“) as well as, and OnLine Production Services.

(indieWIRE/ 8.30.00) — The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film
will be sending a delegation of established and emerging Canadian
docmakers to the upcoming Nordisk Panorama (running September 20 – 24th in
Bergen, Norway).

“Building on the success of this initiative, Hot Docs is excited to mount
its ‘Nordic Exchange’ in collaboration with the Nordisk Panorama and to
feature approximately a dozen Nordic documentaries in its National Spotlight
Programme at Hot Docs 2001 (April 30 – May 6),” the festival explained in a

(indieWIRE/ 8.30.00) — The top prizes at the second B-Movie Film Festival
in Syracuse, NY went to “I Woke Up Early the Day I Died,” a ‘dialogue-free
comedy’ that is based on an unproduced Ed Wood screenplay. Directed by Aris
(winner of the Best Director award), the movie features Billy
and Christina Ricci who won awards for Best Actor and Best Star Cameo
respectively. The film also won awards for Best Cinematography and Best Set

Other winners included Best Actress Karin Viard in “The New Eve,” Steve Balderson, writer of the Best Screenplay (“Pep Squad“), and “Memories of the Soil,” winner of the Best Documentary award. [Eugene Hernandez]
