(indieWIRE/ 9.19.00) — Online film warehouse makes its first
stab at broadband distribution of its content, announcing yesterday a deal
with ICTV. While ICTV — a television platform that will compete with WebTV and others — is still in its beta-testing stages, it plans to devote a
channel to ALWAYSi content.

“Our current audience are early adopters of technology — people who are
very comfortable with computers and the Internet,” said Anthony Soohoo,
vice-president of business development for San Francisco-based ALWAYSi. He
said he believes the ICTV channel will expose ALWAYSi to a much larger

“We expect — in 2001 and early 2002 — to see mass adoption of ICTV
technology,” Soohoo said.

The two-year-old online film library sought out its partnership with ICTV,
Soohoo said, calling it the first of many “strategic” moves into broadband

>> BRIEFLY: IFC To Air IFP Market Film on DV Showcase

(indieWIRE/ 9.20.00) — The Independent Film Channel has acquired American
broadcast rights to the IFP Market feature, “first, last and deposit,”
directed by Peter Hyoguchi. The film, which debuted at this year’s LAIFF,
screened Sunday at the IFP Market in New York City. It will air on IFC’s
monthly DV Theater showcase, online and on-air, tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET
(8:30 p.m. PT). An online chat will follow the broadcast.

“Bringing films like ‘first, last and deposit’ to a wider audience are what
The Independent Film Channel was created to do,” commented Bravo Networks
EVP of New Media Joe Cantwell in a prepared statement. “Now via our new DV
Theater strand, that audience can include not only on-air viewers, but
online and Broadband viewers as well. We hope that this is just the first
of many titles from Peter and Duffy that we are able to present.”
