(indieWIRE/02.06.01) — Saying, in a prepared statement, “The stakes have never been higher for those who risk their lives to provide reproductive health care to women,” actress Julianne Moore signed on to support the latest acquisition by Code Red, a joint effort of Cowboy Booking International and Antidote Films. The film, Liz Mermin and Jenny Raskin‘s documentary entitles, “On Hostile Ground,” will be released by Cowboy in early April starting at The Screening Room in New York.
Described in a statement yesterday as “a look at the daily battles of three ordinary medical professionals placed in extraordinary situations by their choice to provide abortions, “the new documentary was produced by Catherine Gund‘s Aubin Pictures. Proceeds from its release will go to Planned Parenthood and Medical Students for Choice. Julianne Moore, a member of Planned Parenthood’s “Board of Advocates” will speak out in support of the release, Cowboy’s Noah Cowan told indieWIRE yesterday. “‘On Hostile Ground’ is a compelling call to action for everyone who values reproductive freedom,” Moore explained in her prepared statement yesterday.

raised $35 million in venture capital financing, few were surprised. It was a great time for the rapidly expanding online entertainment sector. IFILM declared its determination to be one of the survivors yesterday,
announcing a new $10 million round of financing. The investment, from
previous funders including Eastman Kodak Company, Sony Pictures
Entertainment and others, also includes money from Yahoo!. In a prepared
statement announcing the news, IFILM CEO Kevin Wendle touted the
relationship with Yahoo!.
