(indieWIRE/03.05.01) — Trying to get the edge in the office Oscar pool?
The Writers Guild Award of America has announced the winners of its annual
awards, setting up the honorees as the favored victors on Oscar night.

Kenneth Longergan won the award for best orignal screenplay. He was
recognized for his script for “You Can Count on Me,” a film that he directed
and in which he co-starred. While in the best adapted screenplay category,

>> Good Machine Locks Miramax Deal

(indieWIRE/03.05.01) — Good Machine has hit its ten-year anniversary with
an exclusive IndieWood distribution pact. Company partners Ted Hope, David
and James Schamus have announced what is described as “an exclusive
multi-year first-look production agreement” with Miramax. The distributor
recently acquired North American rights to the Good Machine co-production,
In The Bedroom,” directed by Todd Field.
