(indieWIRE/06.08.01) — Yahoo! Broadcast has picked up three of Mondo
‘s “Mini Shows.” The online leader will distribute “Thugs on Film“, “Piki & Poko Adventures in StarLand” and “Like, News.”

“Mondo Media’s Mini Shows complement the wide variety of programming
available on Yahoo! Broadcast because they are high energy, interactive and
fun,” commented David Mandelbrot, VP and general manager of Yahoo!
Entertainment, in a prepared statement.

Mondo Media develops animated entertainment for syndication. In addition to

festivals in big cities this month, audiences also have a chance to log on
and check out a top group of queer films. PlanetOut.com‘s PopcornQ Movie
, the leading site for gay and lesbian film, has unveiled the
finalists in their annual PlanetOut.com Short Movie Awards, the event that
columnist Michael Musto calls, “The Oscars of gay and lesbian cinema – only

25 films were selected to compete for $15,000 in cash prizes from online
audiences and a jury. Voting continues throughout the month on the

In the animation category, the nominees are: “Civil Enough” by Marilyn
Freeman; “Numb” by Dino Alberto and Dave Hughes; “Piki and Poko” by Mark Ewert and David Cutler; “Tumbleweed Town” by Samara Halperin; “Via Wire” by Clif Mok; “The Rape of Ganymede” by Dustin Woehrmann and Tom Whitman. While in the comedy, the finalist are: “50 Ways” by Angela Robinson; “Color Me Gay” by Eric Waddell and Jeffrey Wylie; “Hi I’m Steve” by Robert Kennedy; “Trigger Happy” by Laurie Schmidt; “Watching Lesbian Porn” by Dayna Mcleod.

Nominees in the documentary are: “Destiny’s Children” by Kevin O’Keefe;
Family Values” by Eva Saks; “No Backup” by Efrat Tal; “XXXY” by Laleh Soomekh and Porter Gale; “Youth Outloud!” by Becky Burklee and Kathy Hines. Finalists in the drama section are: “Baby Steps” by Geoffrey Nauffts;
Broken Warning” by Tadeo Garcia; “Lives of the Pharaohs” by Jonathan Wald; Lost Cause by Glenn Gaylord; “Summer Light” by Aaron Walker. And in the
experimental category the nominees are: “Borderline” by Lisset Barcellos;
Casualty” by Andy Abrahams Wilson; “Crimson” by Gino T. anf Byung K.; “Girl Under The Table” by Dominique Zeltman; “Lullaby” by Antonia Kao.
