>> 2002 Cannes Critics Week Line-Up Announced

(indieWIRE/04.26.02) — The line-up for the Critics Week sidebar for
the 2002 Cannes Film Festival has been announced. A total of 20 films
(seven features, eight shorts, and five special screenings), will screen in the program.

Highlights include Juan Carlos Fresnadillo‘s “Intacto” (Spain) and
More,” Barbet Schroeder‘s 1969 debut feature. Schroeder’s new film,
Murder by Numbers,” which is currently playing in U.S. theaters, will also screen at Cannes as an out of competition selection. For the second year in a row, no films from the U.S. have been included in the Critics Week program. [Matthew Ross]


>> Leigh Selected to Receive Film Society of Lincoln Center Honors

(indieWIRE/04.26.02) — Jennifer Jason Leigh will be recognized with a
special award from the Film Society of Lincoln Center in June. The
actress/writer/director/producer has been tapped to receive The Film
Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Friends of Film Honors.

Jennifer Jason Leigh will be honored at a special Lincoln Center program
that will feature appearances by Jane Adams, Robert Altman, Phoebe Cates, David Cronenberg, Ulu Grosbard, Kevin Kline, John C. Reilly, Tim Robbins, and Campbell Scott. The evening will include speakers and a black-tie party. John C. Reilly is serving as honorary chair for the event.

Leigh’s credits include her directorial debut “The Anniversary Party” (with
Alan Cumming) and roles in “The King is Alive,” “eXistenZ,” “Georgia,” “Dolores Claiborne,” “Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle,” “The Hudsucker Proxy,” and “Short Cuts,” among other films. She is appearing alongside Tom Hanks, Paul Newman and Jude Law in “The Road to Perdition.”
