After seven years at Miramax, Elizabeth Dreyer is leaving the company to join Stephane Sperry’s Liaisons Films, which is based at Focus Features in a multi-year first-look deal. At Miramax, the company announced a number of promotions within international division.

Dreyer had most recently served as Miramax’s VP of acquisitions, based in London, where she helped strike deals for films including “Amelie,” “Italian For Beginners,” and “The Son’s Room.”

Dreyer will be based in Liaisons’ Paris office (also the Focus branch there) as VP of development and acquisitions, reporting directly to Sperry. She will also be working with the Focus acquisitions team, headed by Focus executive VP of acquisitions and co-productions Amy Kaufman. Through Liaisons, Sperry is executive producing Pascal Laugier’s “Saint Ange,” due for a 2004 release from Focus and Studio Canal.

“We’ve already begun our first production with Focus, and with Elizabeth on board everyone is looking forward to expanding the relationship even further,” said Sperry, a former StudioCanal exec, in a prepared statement.

With Dreyer’s departure, Miramax International announced several promotions. Stuart Ford will now be executive VP and department head of Miramax International; he had been senior VP and co-head of acquisitions since February 2001 (he joined Miramax in 1998). Ford will also serve as a board member of TFM, Miramax’s French distribution joint venture. Of the existing staffers in the department, Lisa Lazure has been promoted to senior VP of international publicity, Mark Lindsay to senior VP of sales, and Michael Rothstein to VP of sales and distribution. All four are based in New York.
