The Banff Television Festival closed last week as it honored Power Pictures’ “Chavez – Inside the Coup” with the $50,000 Global Television Grand Prize. In an announcement, jury President Trina McQueen called the doc, “A wonderful story, brilliantly told. The energy and pace of this documentary, combined with remarkable insider footage, make it a thrilling experience for the viewer.” Continuing the statement said, “A combination if intelligence, passion, and humour illuminates this controversial tale of big oil, international intrigue, charismatic leadership, class struggle, revolution and ultimately, the hopes of people for real democracy.”
