Niki Caro’s “Whale Rider” had its New York premiere Monday night, followed by an after party under the Queensboro Bridge at the magnificent Guastavino restaurant, a unique, yet fitting location for the soiree. Among the crowd were Newmarket chief Bob Berney and Rogers and Cowan’s Jeanne Berney. Also there, the film’s star Keisha Castle-Hughes along with fellow star, Cliff Curtis. Polynesian culture also made its way to Manhattan for the occasion, with a rousing performance by the Kahurangi Maori dancers.
