A new film festival is hitting the regional circuit next month in Columbia, Missouri. The inaugural True/False Festival, described as “an exploration of fact, fiction and what lies between,” will kick off in downtown Columbia on February 13th with Oscar-winner Kevin Macdonald‘s mountain-climbing film, “Touching the Void.” Almost 50 films will be featured throughout the first T/F, which will conclude February 15th.

Docs will be a highlight of the fest with “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster” co-director Bruce Sinofsky present to accept the first True Vision award, recognizing career achievement. Along with “Monster,” the fest will also screen Sinofsky’s “Brother’s Keeper.” Other featured documentaries include Toronto 2003 and Sundance 2004 fav “The Corporation” (co-director Mark Achbar will attend) as well as NYFF 2003 doc “The Fog of War” by Errol Morris, which was nominated for an Oscar this week. Also slated is Kim Bartley and Donnacha O’ Briain‘s Toronto 2003 hard-hitting doc, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” as well as “Surplus: Terrorized into Being Consumers,” by Erik Gandini and Johan Soderberg, which took the Silver Wolf prize last year at the Amsterdam Documentary Festival.

Sundance 2004 films are also a highlight with screenings of “CSA: Confederate States of America” by Kevin Willmott; Jehane Noujaim‘s Al-Jazeerah doc, “The Control Room,” which sparked passionate Q & A sessions following Park City screenings, as well as “Let the Church Say Amen” by David Petersen. The Ragtag Cinema, the Blue Note nightclub and the Missouri Theatre, all within walking distance of the other, will host the screenings.
