Sometimes those gossip columns really get the scoops! Apparently last week, Mel Gibson used the ‘F’ word, in public!!
According to today’s Rush & Molloy column in the New York Daily News, the filmmaker shocked an audience of home video retailers in California with his “potty mouth.” (It surprises me that video folks have never heard such language given their business, but gee whiz, who knows…) Rush & Molloy characterize the exchange as follows:
“He was cantankerous and said he had just rolled out of bed. One person asked him how the success of ‘The Passion’ had changed how he makes decisions.
“He was silent for a minute, and then said, ‘F– you! I don’t mean f– you; I mean “f– you” in general. I don’t have to answer any of these questions anymore. I’m a hell of a lot wealthier than I once was.’
“People’s mouths were hanging open.”
A 20th Century Fox executive claimed it never happened, but a second ear-witness told us, “He was joking. He does have no trouble saying ‘f– you,’ though.”
