First Mobile Phone Virus appears

I usually don’t blog about anything to do with technology, as I leave that in the very capable hands of my fellow IW blogger (and Wrath of Kahn aficionado) Greg G., but this is just outright bizarre, if not totally suprizing.

According to FCW.COM, security firm F-Secure has detected a worm (Cabir) that spreads among mobile phones using the Bluetooth wireless technology. It spreads on the Symbian Ltd. Series 60 operating system and appears to be harmless and avoidable, working like your typical email worm where you have to actually open a file for it to execute. Yet another nuisance that comes along with cool new gadgets, I’m sure Cabir will pave the way for hackers all over the globe to come up with something more ambitious and destructive, or even God forbid, beneficial, like shutting down people’s cel phones during movies.

All you Dodgeball sluts out there watch out.
