Five New Albums Worth Your Dime…

Five New Albums Worth Your Dime...

1. The Killers, Hot Fuss (This Las Vegas buzz band blends The Cure and U2 in a way that was more original in 1988, but more fun today.)

2. Sarah Sharp, Fourth Person (A one-woman Lillith Fair, Austin singer-songwriter Sharp’s debut album is a peaceful and poppy affair that draws influences from Jewel and Tori Amos.)

3. PJ Harvey, Uh Huh Her (The modern-day Patti Smith impresses again with a stripped-down return to her organic roots.)

4. Simple Kid, 1 (This newcomer makes beats and strings with homemade recording devices. It’s fuzzy and broken to the ears, but hints at the genius of Beck and The Eels.)

5. Sweetback, Stage 2 (My music critic peers may find me foolish for falling for this, but the new album from Sade’s backing band is still a chill-out and nice lounge throwback for the summer.)
