Uh Huh Her

Uh Huh Her

One of my favorite things is getting mail that winds up being free CDs or concert tickets. When I was the music editor at my college paper, this was an everyday event. And everyday was like Christmas.
Today, I stopped by my mailbox to see a slim package from my friend Katie, who’s in New York this summer working for Island/Def Jam Music Group. Katie hooked me up with some new CDs and I cannot thank her enough. This included the very good new PJ Harvey record, Uh Huh Her. I’m psyched, to say the least. Hopefully, I have some fodder here for future installments of “Five Albums Worth Your Dime.”
Otherwise, today is just another Monday. I need to make plans for a San Antonio excursion later this week. I’m heading there for the annual Association of Alternative Newsweeklies convention. It’s held somewhere different around the nation every year, and this year is San Antonio.
I’ve just been on a little whirlwind, central Texas summer tour so far. I’m just looking forward to some time back on the West Coast, where it’s not so humid. Two weeks ago, I was in Dallas and this weekend I was in Houston. After San Antonio this week, it’s back to Dallas for a wedding. Since all of these places are relatively close (and because I relish the idea of a summertime roadtrip), I’m driving to all of them. It’s putting some serious miles on the car, but whatever. As long as I have my summer roadtrip soundtrack with PJ Harvey. Uh Huh Her.
