I need to get my lazy ass to the movies, but I’ve been pretty uninspired lately (my lame excuses are detailed below), so I decided to leave it to you, the members of the indieWIRE blog community, to decide for me! Ok, let’s take a poll: Which film should I see this week and why? I will go see the film that gets the most votes.
Hey Tom, You should see….
a) Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster at The Sunshine
b) Los Angeles Plays Itself at Film Forum
c) The Bourne Supremacy at a Theater Near You
d) Early Spring at BAM
e) Free Radicals at Anthology Film Archives
One vote each in the Comments section, and please explain your vote…
I will blog my review of the winning film after I see it.
THE LAME EXCUSES
I’ve been travelling of late and haven’t had much to write home about (let alone blog about,) but now I’m finally back in Brooklyn and ready to get into the swing of things. I haven’t been to the movies in weeks, and it is killing me, but I haven’t had the time or motivation to go. Not sure why, maybe it is my interest in watching Kerry’s campaign get going, or burnout from a long first half of the year, but nothing is grabbing me. I was excited to see Agnes Jaoui’s film opening the NYFF though. What a shock and a lovely surprise. Not the huge profile filmmaker I was expecting (my money was on Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic) but from everything I have heard, Comme une Image is supposed to be lovely. I am excited to see it and the usual amazing line-up from the Film Society.
I also recently got a new Programming job, and I don’t want to spill the beans here yet as to which festival, but I am very excited about it and plan on talking about it asap. Two festivals in one year– a lot of work, but I am really thrilled to be working at Nantucket and on the new job.
Otherwise, I am simply obsessed with soccer. My favorite side Liverpool are playing in the USA and I got to go see them last night. I’m saving that experience for a separate post. Amazing!
