Looks like SXSW’s resident biking expert, Shawn O’Keefe, finally broke down and got himself a “Live Strong” bracelet, just like the rest of Austin. I’m tempted to jump on this charity/fashion bandwagon. I mean, if you’re gonna jump on a fashion bandwagon, it might as well be for a good cause, right?
So, as the racers make their way through the mountains and some of the most difficult terrain they’re to face, Lance Armstrong has made a surprising charge. This puts him at second place, overall, as he shaved four minutes off of his time, pitting him directly behind yellow-jersey leader Thomas Voeckler.
Armstrong’s arch-nemesis (that’s my own word for him) Jan Ullrich suffered a big blow and is now 2.5 minutes behind the American. Meanwhile, fellow American and former Armstrong teammate Tyler Hamilton is 3.5 minutes behind his colleague.
Up next, all eyes are on the rest of the mountains to see if Armstrong can continue to pull ahead. Approaching the July 25 finish date, the riders are about to hit the Alps, and a true indication of who will win the Tour.
