TX Goes ‘Darko’

TX Goes 'Darko'

Bob Berney of Newmarket Films, Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News, and I have been in talks since May about an event that is finally coming together. On August 24, we’re all hosting a special presentation of Donnie Darko: The Director’s Cut in Austin, featuring an appearance and Q&A by director Richard Kelly. The director’s cut has already opened in other markets, and it opens in Austin on August 27. This special presentation was first discussed three months ago, but it’s all sort of coming together now.

I think it will be a fun event, especially since Donnie Darko is one of those films that leaves audiences wanting to pick the brain that created it. Plus, Richard Kelly has some really exciting films on the horizon including Southland Tales and The Box. I dunno. I’m a Twilight Zone fanatic, so I dig what he’s doing. The screening should be fun.
