When I saw Jonathan Caouette’s “Tarnation” in January, I was blown away and today I watched it again and was equally stunned. I’ve already blogged about the movie twice (once after its acquisition was announced, and again in Cannes) — in its finished form the film is an even more striking family story about growing up and surviving, told with a distinctively personal approach.
Unfortunately, Jonathan Caouette couldn’t be there today for the New York Film Festival media screening and press conference. Family emergencies that underscore the truths of his film are keeping him in Texas right now, but hopefully he’ll make it back to NYC in time for next week’s public screening at the festival and his theatrical debut on Wednesday.
