Safe to say that over the past week or so there were a lot of doubts, from even the most strident Democrat friends of mine, about Kerry’s ability to win on November 2. Hopefully tonight’s debate erased those concerns, with just over a month to go before election day. In his closing comments, Kerry said “we have a different set of convictions”, and in the post-debate analysis one commentator said that there were “clear differences” between the two candidates evidenced in the debate. Indeed.
If this election is in fact a referendum on Iraq, then let tonight’s debate serve as a basis upon which the undecided can make a decision. Of course, its about so much more, but that will be clarified in the coming debates over the next two weeks.
