The Rain People

The Rain People

So, it’s Monday night and I’m babysitting 16 month-old Harper Cummings. We’re watching whatever TV will get her sleepy (she’s up at least an hour past her bedtime)… so we settled on the Radio Music Awards. I just wanna check out Ashlee Simpson’s return to the live television stage after this weekend’s Saturday Night Live debacle.

Something tells me I’m not the only one. And something tells me NBC probably planned for this… which means, no matter where she was in the original performance line-up, they probably moved her to the end of the night to capitalize on people like me waiting to see her “perform.” Well, you won’t fool me Radio Music Awards… surely there’s something else on that a 16 month-old will be into. Like, Cribs, perhaps?

So there was no basketball this weekend due to a few factors, including lots of rain. The rain was falling hard in the middle of Friday night’s Rilo Kiley show downtown. I was one of the lucky few that had the luxury of getting rained on all through the show. It actually added a nice element to the evening. And when’s the last time I ran through the rain to get to my car? High school, probably.

Rain almost made the Sunday night show by Brian Wilson a bad idea. But the weather calmed itself for what actually wound up being a pleasant evening and a fine show. The first half was Beach Boys hits and the second half was his entire “new” album Shine. I had a fun time, and the weather was really great in the end.

Okay, back to babysitting… we need to find some cartoons or something. Maybe Family Guy? I need to watch SXSW festival submissions but something tells me that will need to wait for the baby to fall asleep.
