An IM conversation at 9:00 PM with my ultra-conservative brother – who I often disagree with – Chris:
Matt: he’s going down chris, going DOWN
Chris: We’ll see Matthew
Matt: how can you have voted for Bush?
Chris: Because we need a president with a long term vision for this country and our foreign policy, NOT someone that jumps from poll to poll like Kerry
Seriously, though. The biggest complaint I have with the democratic party is that they are about the short term, the appearance of doing something good and worthwhile.
And plus I don’t think they really grasp the realities of global politics. Coddling and appeasmnet doesn’t work. I mean, really, internationalism, the UN? A body that seeks to find the common interests of 200 some odd countries? This is a body that we want to trust with global security?
Matt: i’m using this for my blog by the way
Chris: The world is a MUCH safer place since the United States and more recently the Republican party became active, some would say meddlesome in global affairs. International terrorism is small potatos compared tot he spectre of continental and global wars.
About the common interest thing…my point in bringing that up is what common interest could these 200 countries possibly have?
Matt: okay, thank you, chris, for your thoughts
