Park City '05, Day 11: Old School Sundance

Ok, its been way to busy for daily personal Sundance blogging, since the indieWIRE crew and I have been so busy trying to keep indieWIRE’s Park City area full of fresh content.

After a day when four different acquisitions deals were announced, it was nice to have a bit of an old school Sundance night. The cool folks at Paramount Classics, celebrating their latest deal (for the Slamdance film “Mad Hot Ballroom”) hosted a terrifc, intimate dinner for 20 up at their Deer Valley house. Ruth, David, Susan, Joe and Ben were wonderful hosts who showed their guests a great meal and killer desserts. For Brian and I it was a much needed chance to sit down for a relaxing dinner with great people.

After that it was off to an old fashioned Sundance condo party, hosted by Jared Moshe and Rich Lim. Like any good Sundance soiree from ‘back in the day’ it started small around 11 p.m., but as word spread (today via cell phones and text messages) the party grew organically and was really getting going as I left well after 2 a.m. Sundance programmers, festival filmmakers, industry insiders, and an array of festival gawkers partied into the wee hours…
