Graduation Weekend

Graduation Weekend

One of the busiest weekends in downtown Austin is graduation weekend… when the University of Texas hosts its commencement ceremonies. The bars, clubs, and restaurants of the city become overcrowded with students, their families, and their friends celebrating the end of the semester and the beginning of summer…

(While people waltzed between bars downtown, many of us couldn’t help but get the latest updates of the Phoenix/Dallas basketball playoffs game. Outside of Ringers, a sports bar, crowds gathered to watch the game as it was far too crowded inside. Oh, and the Dallas Mavericks lost. Ugh. Oh, and apparently Ringers is now open for lunch.)

(Pals and law students Reid and Jarren hang out with the crowd at Light Bar. Reid was celebrating his graduation from law school at the University of Houston, while Jarren was celebrating the end of her first year at the UT law school.)

(The house band of Light Bar had a tough time keeping up with the loud crowds, while they performed on the rooftop.)

(Myself and high school buddy Mark Villareal, kicking back on 4th Street. Mark was celebrating his graduation from St. Edwards University.)
