How Many History Museums Have 3-D and Carnivals?

It was recently announced that the Austin Film Society (AFS) will host a special Austin premiere of Robert Rodriguez’s new film, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, on Sunday, June 5. Meanwhile, it’s only been about two months since the last AFS Robert Rodriguez premiere (for Sin City). That’s pretty impressive.

The Sharkboy and Lavagirl premiere will be held at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Central Austin. Not only will it be on the museum’s IMAX screen, it will be in 3-D and the afterparty will actually be a full-on carnival. This follows in the Austin premiere tradition Robert’s films have enjoyed since the original Spy Kids. So yes, folks can buy tickets for a 3-D IMAX premiere with all the carnival rides and food they can handle. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on some kettle corn. Maybe funnel cake, too. Hmmm… better save myself for the Gravitron ride.

For more information, and details on how to get tickets, check out the AFS site right here.
