NBC’s decision to ban Motley Crue after singer Vince Neil said the F-word during a New Year’s Eve broadcast, has resulted in a counter-attack from the heavy metal band. Motley Crue is filing its own lawsuit against the network, claiming that the banishing has cost the group millions in lost revenue from album sales.
Well, as this Billboard article indicates, the Crue has already sold well over 300,000 copies of their recent two-disc retrospective. Wouldn’t you agree that’s more than anyone would have imagined? Besides, I dig the Crue a lot, but wouldn’t anti-establishment behavior be a selling point to them? I mean, claiming that a corporation banning them would hurt their reputation, is kind of a stretch. This would be like Clay Aiken suing The Disney Channel for making him seem too nice and sweet.
