The fourth SXSW 2005 feature film in the last week to announce a theatrical deal is Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic. The hybrid comedy concert film/musical was easily one of the most popular titles at our festival in March, selling out each and every screening. Sarah Silverman came to town and participated on a “Comedy in Film” panel, featuring Patton Oswalt, Thomas Haden Church, Paul Provenza, and more.
Anyway, Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. theatrical and TV rights, for a November release. In the announcement, Roadside Attractions co-president Howard Cohen said: “She’s political, fearless and hilarious all at once. She is genuinely subversive. And the truth is, guys find her hot.”
