Thursday was a good day. I met some great people, had fun. I had a wonderful sushi meeting with Laura Kim from Warner Independent, where we ran into Kyle from Focus Features and Dennis from Picturehouse Films. But then, the San Antonio Spurs won Game 7 of the Finals.
Here are some moments from Thursday:
(Everyone’s watching the basketball game at our L.A. Film Festival hoops destination, Sushi Dan.)
(Indie film publicist David Magdael gets goofy as I snap this photo. We were at the Porch Party for FIND’s Industry Circle.)
(I stopped in at the Laugh Factory on Sunset, to catch a few comics.)
(Me, Cabin Fever director Eli Roth, and Drew McWeeny – a.k.a. “Moriarty” – from Ain’t It Cool News hang out at the DGA building prior to the screening of Promedio Rojo, the film that had its U.S. Premiere at SXSW this year. That screening was easily one of the craziest nights at the fest, as industry did their best to see the movie everyone’s been talking about. During his introduction, Chilean director Nicolas Lopez cried out, “To all the distributors here tonight, buy my fucking movie! I need money to buy a plane ticket back to Chile!”)
