About six months ago at Sundance, I first saw the stunning feature version of photographer David LaChappelle‘s doc about krumping and clowning, “Rize” (one year after he brought the short film, “Krumped,” to the festival). Picured here are dancers at the film’s after-party.
“Rize”, beautifully shot with a staggering soundtrack, offers a window into an unseen world capturing wildly fast-paced dancing pioneered by a group of young people in South Central Los Angeles; it balances considerable music and movement with a look at the lives of a group of dancers. The film opened this weekend and will expand to more theaters on July 1st.
