Texas Exes: D.C. Style

Texas Exes: D.C. Style

I’m in Washington, D.C. for a few days on business and, before long, I ran into some fellow Texans. No, not the President or First Lady. I went to a bar, McFadden’s on Pennsylvania Ave., to watch the UT Longhorns baseball game and within seconds, realized I was surrounded by an unusually loud group.

After some questions and introductions, I learned they were primarily former UT students now living and working in D.C. Say what you will about Texas, but it’s hard to go far from the state and not find people from the state. Every major U.S. city, you’ll run into someone within minutes. Anyway, after some more chatting, one of them asked, “Are you gonna be here on Thursday? It’s our meeting with the Texas Exes. I’m the head of the D.C. Texas Exes chapter.” (Texas Exes being the UT alumni organization) Alas, I’ll be leaving town on Thursday night… but only to head back to the land of UT.
