Spencer Parsons has begun what promises to be a series of stories for The Austin Chronicle. It appears to be regular installments checking in with the production of Jake Vaughan and Bryan Poyser’s second feature, The Cassidy Kids.
Some of the updates? Principal photography has begun, the cast now includes Kadeem Hardison and Anne Ramsay (not the old woman in Throw Momma From the Train, that’s Anne Ramsey, and she’s dead). The crew is an all-star mash-up of Austin filmmakers, including cinematographer PJ Raval and editor Kyle Henry. Anyway, here’s an excerpt from the first installment:
“Starring Anne Ramsay (Mad About You) and Kadeem Hardison (A Different World), The Cassidy Kids is an ambitious comic drama about a gang of kids whose unraveling of a murder mystery in 1980 inspired a children’s TV show and now sets off a very adult crisis as their DVD-extra reunion brings to light clues that their precocious detective work actually sent an innocent man to his grave. Think Atom Egoyan on Sugar Smacks.”
