At Sundance this year, the celeb buzz when it wasn’t about Paris Hilton sightings, was about Entourage sightings. The cast and crew was in Park City filming an episode of the show for the second season. The first season had already run its course, but I’d never seen it. I referred to it in Park City as, “Oh, you mean that show Mark Wahlberg created for HBO?”
Since then, though, I started watching Entourage with its second season’s premiere. Maybe it was the U2 song in the promos that got me interested. No matter what, I became hooked. The chemistry of the four principal characters just reminded me of my own boyhood buddies and the writing felt natural and funny. So, now, I’m hooked. I need to get the DVDs of the first season for a little background. But regardless, I can’t get enough of the misadventures of rising star Vince and his entourage. Plus, yes, Jeremy Piven steals every frame he’s in as his scheming agent.
So where does that leave us now? The Sundance episode will debut this Sunday, and in a way, things come somewhat full circle for me. At least now, I can watch Entourage in Sundance and consider it to be much more than “that Mark Wahlberg show.” For me, it’s now “that show I must watch every Sunday night.”
In the meantime, check out The Rabbi’s own recent thoughts about the show. And, if you never have, don’t wait until season three. Join Entourage sometime soon.
